Swordmasters of Hoeth - Finished!

*Squeek*
Warning: Pic heavy post!

Got these guys finished up at last and ready to join the HE army I am painting up for my kids, "The Purple Sons of Xereus". They took about a week to do. Having 20 of them will give me a pretty hard-hitting core to the army.

Pics below:

Command
Blademaster

Standard Bearer
Musician
Difficult to see, but I added edge highlights to the scabbard...
Swordmaster.
So, with a week to go until I reveal the army I have to hurry on, but I can see myself coming back to these guys. (TBH, you could spend hours more working on the details of the Swordmasters - there is just lots of detail to enjoy!)

Next up, the final unit in my army - x8 Silver Helms. I have a week of evenings to go until the deadline and have never painted cavalry before, so this could be a bit of challenge. In order to try to stay on schedule I spray painted them Skull White today (I'm out of Chaos Black) at the same time I was working on a movement tray for them - its all go!

Cheers,
*Squeek*

  2. Great work been waiting for to see how you finished these as I needed some ideas for my own IoB Swordmasters.

Colour scheme works well - detailing is great, the Green Gems are just fantastic look really deep and lifelike. High Elf army is looking good

    1. Thanks for the comment - don't think you need any ideas from ME though! ;-) You are the one whose Elves already had a similar colour scheme. BTW I was just browsing your Dragon Princes for some ideas for my Silver Helms...hope you don't mind!
      Cheers,
      Squeek.

  3. They're looking excellent, lots of nice little touches (like the band of green around the musicians horn).

Just finished a batch of 10 Silverhelms myself last night. They really are a very bland bunch of figures - dating from 1999(?) and it shows. I just like to imagine how good they'd be if they were re-imagined like the Dragon Princes.

    1. You surprise me - I didn't think they were THAT bad! With the different bits and pieces you can get a bit of variety. Granted, Dragon Princes are pretty impressive, but I would argue they are TOO over the top in design terms.
And blimey, the SHs still look great compared to Empire Knights!
      ;-)

  4. I really like them. The deep purple works very well in contrast to the strong, clean white. My only issue is that on the close ups it looks like the sand doesn't go to the edge of the base, and just looks a little bit odd.

    Otherwise, great!

    1. Damn your keen dwarven eyesight!! :-)
Actually, you are quite right. I just went with the basing that the original owner did, even though the coverage was lacking...
      (Hangs Skaven head in shame)

    2. You have not endeavoured to redeem yourself. First you start off pretty bad by going with Skaven, then you go with Elves.

*gets out quill and Book of Grudges*

Fair point though. Could not a little but of flick or static grass work for covering it over?

    3. Sorry mate, I don't speak Dwarf...
      ;-)
What is this "Flick" you speak of???
      :-D

  5. Beautiful!

With the purple color scheme, they almost look like samurai!

    Very appropriate!

    1. Cheers Gavin, glad you like them! I hadn't thought about Samurai at all tbh...
...but happy if they look that badass!
