Chaos Space Marines Troops finished.

*Squeek*
Busy week at work...must...go..to...bed...
...but before that, I wanted to post a couple of units of Chaos Space Marines that I more or less finished tonight.

Around 10 with bolters, 10 with CC weapons (Bolt Pistols and Chainswords) and finally a pack of guys with heavy weapons.

Pics below:

Actually, thought they were finished, but seeing photos on the screen means I can immediately see lots to do!
-heavy weapon barrels need boring out.
-I must bring myself to do the power weapons.
-layers on the flesh rather than just a wash.
-sprucing up the bases to make them more interesting (skulls? weapons? the battered bodies of the vanquished?)
etc.

a warlord's work is never done!

  1. Hello!

Could you please write how to paint the skin and the eyes (not on the helms) on CSM? I don't have much experience in that so it would be really helpful.

    Thank you.

  2. Hello and thanks for asking your question. For these guys I THINK I used a lighter skin colour (Elf Flesh), mixed with a grey (Fortress Grey). This was about 50/50 mix.
I recommend experimenting a bit first with the balance of the flesh and grey to get the feeling you want.
After that was dry I washed the skin using an "Ogryn Flesh" wash.
As this will give you some shadows and definition on the skin you don't then need to do eyes if you don't want to, as they will be in shadow.
Please note that I am still using the "OLD" Citadel paints. If you have the new paints released earlier this year, use my conversion chart to help you: (you may have to copy and paste the link)

    Thanks for dropping by!

  3. Thank you, I'll try your technique soon. :-)

By the way, your blog is really awesome with Skaven. So many photos and sooo well-described painting tutorials. Thank you for that! Squeek!

I got 4 Skaven armies of IoB set (it's about 250 rats all together, maaaan) and I got my H&S Infinity airbrush today, so bless me to finish painting all that tails until I get my grey beard grown. :-)

    1. You are welcome. Glad you like the Skaven content here and always happy to hear from another Warlord! 250 is a good lot of rats - good luck with the painting, and your many battles to come!
      :-)
