High Elf Silver Helms Update #1

*Squeek*

Just a super-quick update on the High Elf Silver Helms as I have to go to work in a few minutes!

Over the past couple of weeks (I had a business trip in the middle) I managed to get basecoats done, then washes, and over the last night or two some highlights. I got the Snot Green down on the gems last night. With the Elven Tower on its way and arriving in the next few days I will probably hand the completed army over to my kids this weekend, if I manage to get these gems, final highlights, details, shields and banner done this week!!

Pics below...

Cheers,

  1. They look great, although in the pictures quite a bit of the purple looks a lot like pink. But these are elves, it is fine. ;)

  2. Thanks for the comment!
Yeah, the Warlock Purple looks a bit pink for sure! I'd actually like to do a final lighter edge highlight, but it may look even more"Electric Pink"...

  3. I just want to thank you for Skaven painting tutorials (as I use them as guide for my skaven horde), and ask one question. After you finish your models do you use varnish or anything else to protect your models? Thx once more and keep up good work. :)

    1. Thanks for visiting Dimco, and for the question!

I DON'T actually use varnish or anything else. Or at least, I haven't so far. The reasons for this are:
1.) Not really being confident about which option to choose. (A matt spray like GW 'ard coat?)
2.) I rarely play, so my models don't have to travel. For this reason, they don't get knocked around too much.

Sorry I don't have more info. In fact, any help or advice would be gratefully accepted!

      Cheers,

    2. I use mat varnish spray by MIPA (German company), which is cheap and available here, but I still get to glossy look (maybe I didn't shake can enough). As for GW varnish I have tried GW's version of mat spray and I got dusty look on my minis so I stay away from GW's varnish.
