Warcry

Welcome to my Warcry warbands page.

On this page you can see the models that I currently have fully painted for Warcry, a skirmish game published by Games Workshop. Over time I hope to add more models and information here.

In 2019, after some experience with Killteam for Warhammer 40K and Frostgrave, I really felt like skirmish games were a good fit for me for keeping up my tabletop hobby.

  1. Low barrier to entry in terms of:
    1. model count (around 10 or so).
    2. painting and prep (compared to a 1,000 point 40K army for example).
    3. rules familiarity.
    4. game setup.
  2. Overall less TIME and MONEY.
  3. Streamlined rules. Roll the dice one time to check if you hit and whether you wounded your opponent or not. No armour saves!
  4. Randomised setup adds variety.
  5. Many rules/ cards for existing races and armies are available, so you can probably put together a warband from your existing Age of Sigmar models.
I've put no.2 separately because these two (although related to no.1) are key to me at this point in my life when it comes to modelling. I've got kids in education and my work requires a lot of travel so time and money are at a premium.

If you are interested in trying Warcry be aware that depending on the kind of gamer you are it may be immensely satisfying (if you want a quick, brutal game) or really frustrating (streamlined approach makes the game less "crunchy" and susceptible to dice results).
